I flew out of Stanstead early on Monday morning and due to the early check in time took a bus out tand arrived at 1:30 am with the intention to watch a film on my laptop until I could check in. I knew T-mobile ( who I have an account with) provided coverage at the airport. I have to say this coverage was excellent and whatever corner of the "land side" of the airport I wandered to I got very good signal strength. But there was a reason I had to wander to every corner of the "land-side" and that was I was in search of somewhere to charge my laptop.None of the coffee shops/cafeterias that were open had tables with access to power sockets. As I wandered I came across two airport security staff and asked them where I could charge my laptop. "Sorry, all the sockets here are for airport employee's use only and as such are hidden. We haven't tested your laptop so don't know if it is safe to let you plug it in!&, quot; Now there is service for the 21st Century. The only place with access to powerpoints is "air-side" after you have checked in.
