There is a starbucks with free wi-fi located in the lower area near the Cathay gates (1-5) i was there first thing in the morning and while there were 5 or 6 others using laptops in the small area there the speed was adequate for e-mail and checking news sites.
The free wi-fi in the cathay lounge was excellent and worked well with my expansys voip service on my Nokia E65, i got a signal by sitting on the floor up against the lounge wall !!

I was in the business lounge, right by the security gates. Lots of workstations and ports for laptops. Lots of power points. It's a bit small though and can get a bit rubbish strewn. It's also difficult to find.

There were many wi-fi signals as I walked through the airport. The main official ones seems to be all pay ones so I kept looking. I found a fast and free one by sitting outside a business lounge and was able to check e-mails and make a web-call home. There weren't a lot of power points that I could see, at least not close to anywhere to sit. The airport has lots of shops and fairly long walks between gates so I got to see a fair bit while waiting between flights. Didn't try cell or look for any fixed lines.

OK, if you really want to surf the web and check your emails but don't have your laptop with you (or simply don't want to pay for internet), then this website here http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/skymart_v2/shopping/tele_inte.htm lists all the free internet zones at the airport. It says its free, but don't know what the connection and speed is like. Anyway, hope it's of help!

PCCW wi-fi coverage very good and is free. In the lounges as well at the boarding gate seating area. Didn't find many powerpoints around though. Overall, the airport facilities are very good and it doesn't seem as crowded as other airports (e.g. LHR). Wouldn't mind spending a few hours at the airport and continue working on my laptop if I have to.

There's a BTOpenzone point in the BA lounge which you can access sitting at Gate 15 (to your right as you exit security, although you have to go ahead and to the left to get downstairs.) I couldn't connect to the open Cathay WiFi, although I didn't try very hard., I had trouble finding power points - there was one at my gate that I asked to use, but people kept tripping over my cable as the point was a way from the seat.

There are at least two free wi-fi networks here - one from PCCW and one from Cathay, if you're flying with them obviously. Both work without any problems., 3G coverage showing as very good, according to my data card, although I didn't try and log on, given the free wi-fi.

Hong Kong's airport is so vibrant, you wouldn't be using wi-fi or cellular and most probably just shop at their many shops! There is no need to use the lounge, as you would want to browse the mall. Hong Kong living up to its reputation as a land of excitement, even at the airport. Wifi will cost you money from Netvigator; Again, there's much to do (eat, shop, flight-glazing) that you don't want to log onto the internet.
