Wireless signals all around, but all commercial and not cheap - as in £££ €€€ $$$., Certainly not the most comfortable airport around, given the lack of lounge areas to spend your time whilst waiting for your flight. Spacious but crowded.

I found plenty of power points and laptop friendly chairs in the WiFi zone in the main concourse, and several WiFi providers prepared to take my money. Just a shame none of them were offering it for free...

The tmobile WiFi seating area just past security works well for commercial WiFi access and has good power socket (UK format) distribution all around the area. The seating is high tech... and surprisingly comfortable. I didn't test the Vodafone 3G access, but my phone worked fine all around the terminal! There appear to be no usable power sockets at the gates.

Good signals for T-Mobile and BT Openzone in main concourse (by the big central Starbucks). Not an abundance of power sockets but a few around (I was there early but not so early as to crash with Hoover-wielding cleaners). There was though a T-Mobile 'HotSpot' - an area of seats where powerpoints are provided., There are also a few fixed line connections, now fairly standard at BAA airports. But at £1 or €2 for 10mins, that's steep unless there's a vital email or travel doc waiting for you on some webmail account., At my gate (29) there was also a T-Mobile facility to stand, plug in and work, and The Cloud joined the list of wi-fi providers with its own decent signal.

The totally inadequate and overcrowded third London Airport. No lounge facilities. Food and drinks - bar, coffee shop and restaurant. No power points. Just 1 commercial WiFi provider. Adequate mobile phone signal. No workspaces and no PC stations available. Seating not over comfortable - utilitarian cafe style with small dining tables (3)

I flew out of Stanstead early on Monday morning and due to the early check in time took a bus out tand arrived at 1:30 am with the intention to watch a film on my laptop until I could check in. I knew T-mobile ( who I have an account with) provided coverage at the airport. I have to say this coverage was excellent and whatever corner of the "land side" of the airport I wandered to I got very good signal strength. But there was a reason I had to wander to every corner of the "land-side" and that was I was in search of somewhere to charge my laptop.None of the coffee shops/cafeterias that were open had tables with access to power sockets. As I wandered I came across two airport security staff and asked them where I could charge my laptop. "Sorry, all the sockets here are for airport employee's use only and as such are hidden. We haven't tested your laptop so don't know if it is safe to let you plug it in!&, quot; Now there is service for the 21st Century. The only place with access to powerpoints is "air-side" after you have checked in.
