What is atlarge.com?
atlarge.com is an online service that helps business travellers connect to the internet as well as find places to
recharge their personal devices while travelling through the world's commercial airports. It does this by letting
travellers post useful information as free text as well as rate locations according to certain criteria. Each location is
given an aggregate rating from all user posts and the most useful posts are given prominence through atlarge.com's unique
ranking system.

How does it work?
Using the homepage you can search in three different ways for an airport: by a free search (eg typing in 'Chicago', 'ORD' or 'O'Hare' to find Chicago O'Hare airport), by using our filtering system or by navigating to a location using our interactive world map.
Once at a location, you can view all the posts other users have provided. You can view these in reverse chronological order or by 'most useful', which we recommend.
You can rate someone else's post by clicking on the tick or cross at its end next to 'Did you find this post useful?'
You can create your own post by clicking on the 'Rate this airport' button at the top right-hand side
of every location page and following the simple instructions.
top
How is 'most useful' determined?
This is worked out by a proprietary atlarge.com formula that takes into account factors such as total
feedback to a post, proportion of feedback that is positive, age of a post and in some cases atlarge.com
moderators' views.
top
How can I add my views?
Go to a location page then click on 'Rate this airport'.
top
What am I allowed to rate after I click on 'Rate this airport'?
You can rate (between 1 and 10) anywhere from six to none of the criteria on offer. There is also
room to write up to about 250 words of free text, though only 100 words will be shown in the column of
posts. If you do not rate a criterion it does not get automatically rated as a 0 but is greyed out in the
final post and no score carries over to overall averages or the average of your post.
top
How are the criteria weighted against each other?
All six criteria get equal weighting.
top
You provide separate pages for each airport, how can I see or post information on separate terminals or gates?
We only go down to airport level. To post information about specific areas - and more details about
precise locations is a good thing - include that information in your free text. Our search engine will
allow other users to find your specific findings.
top
Can I add a new location?
No. atlarge.com is currently set up for all the world's commercial airports only.
top
My post hasn't appeared. Why is that?
There are three main reasons why this will have happened:
- Your post did not contain any free text. If that is the case your scores for each criterion will be taken into account - and thank you! - but no post appears.
- The site moderators have not yet got to your post. atlarge.com posts are checked before appearing live on the site. We do this for reasons of accuracy and fairness.
- Your post was not considered suitable for publication.
My post was edited. Why was that?
atlarge.com reserves the right to modify posts, for reasons of brevity or accuracy or just to tidy up spelling and grammar. For some changes the moderators will email you, which is the main reason why we ask for a valid email address when a post is submitted.
Why do you ask for my email address as well as a user name?
If there is something in your post that we need to check with you, we would like to get in touch.
Your email address is not displayed on the site, passed on to third parties or used for any kind of unsolicited email.
The one thing we ask is that we contact you at a point in the future when we offer registration.
We would at that stage aim to offer you your unique user name to keep.

Do you have any plans for membership/registration?
Yes.

How do I get posts removed from atlarge.com or report abuse?

Will you be expanding into other areas? (Hotels, cafés, other transport hubs etc.?)
That is the plan, long-term, but at first atlarge.com will focus on airports - a known universe.
top
Is atlarge.com a wiki?
No. We don't work with one description of a location that is regularly updated but posts from
different users over time build up a picture of how easy it is to connect at set locations, with
ratings for a number of types of connection and other criteria such as cost and comfort
(comfy seats, feeling safe, good food and beverages nearby and so on).
top
Who runs atlarge.com?
atlarge.com is owned by CNET Networks Inc and is run by the team at silicon.com
(www.silicon.com), an online business and technology
publication published by CNET Networks UK Ltd out of London, UK.
top
How does atlarge.com make money?
atlarge.com is attracting some of the best brands in the world among a range of advertisers and
will look to monetise the service in other ways.
top
Does atlarge.com plan to stay free to use?
Yes.
top
Can I get atlarge.com over my mobile device?
On some wirelessly connected devices atlarge.com can be viewed in its native state but we are
working on optimising the pages for use on mobile phone WAP browsers, by cutting out lots of graphics
and advertising.
top
Why was atlarge.com known as Project Wicker?
We'll leave you to work that one out.
